POSITION DETAILS

This position involves completing both Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) and Cost of Future Care Assessments (CFC).

FCEs are conducted over 6-8 hours to determine work and activity relevant abilities and limitations. Assessments are funded by a variety of parties representing both plaintiffs and defendants with respect to personal injury, medical malpractice, insurance entitlement and duty to accommodate obligations. Depending on referral objective, workplace based Job Demands Analysis may also be required. CFCs involve assessment in the client’s home environment and case specific research to determine future care needs including equipment, services, therapeutic interventions and personal care requirements as appropriate. FCEs are conducted in our Burnaby or Surrey Guildford offices whereas CFCs may be conducted anywhere in Metro-Vancouver.

The Medical Legal position can also be combined with a community based rehabilitation caseload depending on therapist interest and experience.

  • Medical legal experience is a strong asset
  • Minimum 3 years OT experience to be considered
  • Experience providing Return to Work Rehabilitation services is an asset

  • Current member of COTBC or registration pending
  • Strong aptitude for report writing and attention to detail is required

This position primarily involves RTW rehabilitation for clients recovering from physical injuries and secondarily (depending on candidate experience), MTBI. Duties include functional assessments, job site visits and development of graduated return to work plans as well as liaising with the client’s healthcare team, insurer and legal counsel if applicable. While some client’s may only have vocational needs, others require a period of rehabilitation to increase independence in home and community settings before or concurrent to their RTW program. Funders include insurers and government agencies and the OT will utilize Rehabilitation Case Management to facilitate client access to appropriate health services. For clients recently discharged from hospital or those with ADL difficulties, Home Assessments to determine equipment, support and attendant care needs also form part of the duties. Primary health populations include Orthopedics, General Medical and MTBI. Secondary health populations include Mental Health and Chronic Pain.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Work or practicum experience in return to work rehabilitation a strong asset
  • Commitment to continuous learning through professional development courses
  • Experience in WorkSafeBC programs such as OR2, RTWSS & FCE is also favourable
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; strong negotiation skills
  • Experience working with insurance fee payers (WorkSafe BC, ICBC etc.) is an asset
  • Able to work independently as well as with a multi-disciplinary team is required
  • Current member of COTBC or registering pending

Primary health populations include Brain Injury (TBI & Stroke), Complex Orthopedics and General Medical. Experience working with individuals affected by brain injury (stroke, TBI) or other neurological disabilities is required.

  • Clinical work experience required

Rehabilitation Assistant / Kinesiologist Needed

We currently require a Kinesiologist with 6 months or more related experience to implement clinician directed physical, cognitive, life-skills and communication programs in community based settings for clients with physical, neurological, and emotional disabilities. This position is part-time. Please note that travel time, mileage and expenses will be paid.

Primary Caseload: Return to Work Support Services

Available Territories: Burnaby, Vancouver and Surrey

Return to Work Support Services (RTWSS) is a WorkSafeBC funded service. The goal is to provide services which may include a Job Site Visit (JSV) and Graduated Return to Work (GRTW) Planning and implementation to assist injured workers in returning to their pre-accident job. Direct communication with physicians, WorkSafeBC board officers and other members of the client’s healthcare team may also be required. For those interested, the RTWSS caseload can be combined with an active rehab caseload.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have at least one years’ experience in conducting Job Site Visits and GRTWs
  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or Human Kinetics
  • Must be a member of BCAK
  • Must possess individual professional liability insurance
  • Must have a reliable vehicle to use for work with insurance in your name
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, self-confidence and self-awareness

We are currently seeking a full time accounting assistant for our Burnaby office. This position is Monday to Friday from 9 – 5PM. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with routine invoice submissions
  • Process expense reports
  • Enter accounts payable invoices

  • Filing as needed
  • Assist with projects as needed

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
